Now, contrary to what people believe, trimming and maintaining the perfect beard is just like maintaining any beautiful mane of hair. Get rid of the thought that only girls groom hair. This is so not true! Any good beard is one that shiny, soft and trimmed to perfection. For those of you trying to grow a beard to length, trimming might seem counter intuitive, but to get that beautiful-bearded-distinguished look, you need to trim that hair down. Here are a few tips that should help you along this path.
Invest in good beard care products. This could range from beard combs, brushes, scissors, shampoo, conditioners and beard oils. Trimming a beard is so much more!
Going to a barber is great! But, don’t you want to care for your beard too? Stand in front of a mirror and gently comb through the hair to see the length of your beard. A full neck beard that merges into chest hair is a definite no-no.
The cardinal rule for that u-shape of the beard is to measure up to your Adam’s apple. That’s right, trim up to there and you can avoid the whole mess of a merging neck beard. Drawing an imaginary line between the Adam’s apple and your ear lobes and trimming along that should give your perfect u-shape!
A steady hand is a healthy beard. Using those trimmers or scissors with a very steady hand as you don’t want to trim more that you intend to; in which case you will have to grow it back all over again to groom it well. Take it apart section by section and go about it with a comb and scissor to get it just right including the ‘stache!
